More than one way to any destination...

There are many ways to get clean and/or sober, some work better than others for different types of people. If you have heard that there is only one way to do it and have it stick, it is not entirely true for everyone. Sure, there are more conventional ways than others, but just like everybody has a different history and life circumstances, there are different ways to get back on track and in the right direction to get your life back together. Drop me a line right here to this posting. All you have to do is leave your first name and come back to check for a response. I check my site regularly. What do you have to lose?

I had tried so very many times to cut back, stop on my own, switch between drugs and alcohol, but it just doesn't work for any length of time. It just gets only worse. The only way to beat it is to stop totally by getting recovery help and support. I finally did it after untold years. Now, life is GOOD!!!

The way that has worked for me is to believe that Jesus Christ is the one in control, not me. I had always tried to be the one in control, but that only made my life that much more uncontrollable. I just place my fears, shame, sins, past, present, future in His hands and move on through this life knowing that He is guiding my feet to stay on the straight and narrow while keeping me clean and sober. It really is just that simple! That's what works for me.

Glen,
It is very true that we cannot do this on our own. As this really is a sickness. When we have a broken leg, don't we seek help. So what about a broken spirit? Help really does come in many forms but the key is HELP. I have spent about 30 year in this ruit. Of course we think, "Idon't have a problem." "I can quit when ever I want to." It took 30 years to figure this out. I could not do this myself. The hardest part for me was to just ask for help. I had never been able to do this before. I am no going on 16 months sober. My problems didn't go away but I am no longer at that dead end street. And I now am able to deal with these problems instead of hiding from them behind a bottle. Oh I thank God every day for helping me through this and His contined help.

AA really did help me. I was not alone in this. When I met my bottom I thought this was the end. I lost my job, wife, my childrens respect, family, home and my own self respect. I tried to commit sucide but God would not let me. It was not my time to go yet. I could not change His will for me in the middle of life.
Thank for people like you who also care about others who might not be able to help themselves.

Excellent for your 16 months sober my Brother! The way I finally got clean and sober after over 30 years of hell was to find God/Jesus like I had never found Him before. At over 3 years sober, I KNOW I would be dead or severely disabled by now if I had not given myself to Him. Since then I have lived by a modified AA lifestyle and am doing great (REALLY)! I have seen so many people drop out of AA and/or relapse back into drinking and/or using because of their blindness to see and believe in God. There are other ways to get sober and 'clean you house' and that is what I am trying to do here. EVERYONE who wants to stop should know that they CAN do it, because there are 'more than one way to any destination'...
Thanks for sharing, stop back by anytime, and spread the word.

You help yourself the most by helping others...
